Friendly man lovely fish and chips and good price look forward to it on Auction day
Old school chippy but nicely refurbished. Removed the skin from the fish and cooked it to order, just the way it should be done. Asked for a jumbo sized portion and the owner was happy to oblige.
Chips were the day before, cold, burnt, no potato left. The fish was fresh, but the batter bland and slimy. The oil was dirty and I used to work in a restaurant and knew it needed replacing. Nice chap running it, shame the food was not up to much, especially with competition 5 minutes up the road.
Popped in here for some chips the other night as our usual chippy in the village was busy The guy serving was friendly enough but hygiene wise I think could be better,No hand washing facilities in the front of the shop, the work surfaces looked dirty and he didn't wear gloves while handling the raw fish,the cooking oil looked like it needed changing,Which was obvious when I opened my chips up at home, it had old black bits of burnt batter on it as well as being far to greasy, the chips were cold.It could be a very popular chip shop if it was bought up to date and had better hygiene.
